Who am I?
Alan Howard
I started my career as a marketing specialist in the corporate world, after 5 years in a corporate job, I finally had the courage (I had dreamed about it daily for 4 of those years) to leave my job and start traveling the world.
I was a remote worker for 2 years (corporate), a freelancer for 1.5 years, and finally a first time entrepreneur.
My Why
As you will learn more below, my belief is that in order to change the world for good we need more entrepreneurs of impact, people working out of their strengths and doing what they love. My mission is to launch over 1,000 new online entrepreneurs in the next 2 years.
My First Online Business
While wildly successful monetarily, the business was making over $100,000 per month (20-30% profit margin) in only its 5th month of operations. Even though the business was successful the work was something that I knew added no value to the world (shipping cheap Chinese products around the globe) and equally as important I was not passionate about the work I was doing daily.
After only 10 months in business my business partner and I sold the business and went on an adventure.

An Adventure that Became a Calling
What started as a rare opportunity to be only the 3rd & 4th westerners to live with an indigenous tribe of Kichwa people deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon became a life changing experience.
The realities of the hunter gatherer way of life were difficult, spending nights deep in the jungle with the tribe as they hunted wild pigs, snakes, and monkeys. Days without food as we searched the forest for animals, being stalked by a Jaguar on an afternoon hike, and having a baby monkey as a pet – life in the jungle was something out of a movie.
A Greater Purpose
The month long experience that felt like 6 months in the jungle finally came to an end but during my time there I saw the realities of the big oil companies manipulation of the indigenous people that started the founding of Sacha Agency, Sacha is the Kichwa word for the forest, the mission of our company to protect the Amazon rainforest and the people that call it home.
Over the last 3 years we have done just that, supporting over 450 indigenous people and protecting their forest from illegal logging and big oil.

One of the core issues with the plight of the indigenous communities in the rainforest is no access to resources, without a way to make money, many essential items (medicines, school supplies, feminine hygiene products) are not available, turning indigenous communities to sell land to oil and logging companies out of necessity. Sacha provides a new source of income by paying the community to protect and clean their lands.
